Some of last years goodies!
There is so much to learn with gardening. I always have so many plans for each new season. I am from California, so gardening where we have seasons is a whole new adventure.
I have so much respect for our ancestors. Imagine making a life from scratch. They did not just get to pop over to the nursery for some top soil, some seedlings, and mulch.
This year our friends, Farmer T & Beelady loaned us their tiller!! You have no idea what a generous gift that was. We accomplished so much. Now that is on the top of my Christmas List!!
This is our new middle garden in the back. It has done so well and we are thrilled to have been able to get it tilled, fenced, and planted. Our dogs have the whole yard to run, but if we don't fence in the veggie & flower gardens, they just make a mess of our hard work!!In this area, we planted, cucumbers, pickling ®ular, tomatoes, big & cherry, eggplant, tomatillos, cantaloupe, jalapenos, and basil! Lots of basil!! Oh, marigolds and onion, as well.
We are now planning our fall garden. I need to read up on rotation, but we hope for collards, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, romaine lettece and lots of garlic!!
This year we were thrilled with fabulous fruit. We actually ate small amounts of our own blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and figs! We need to start on fruit trees and add lots more berries!!
Life is just a bowl of raspberries!!
The sunflowers were just wonderful this year. I wanted to experiment to see if I could become a flower farmer. Well, I think I could. Now we just have to clear some land.....Oh, more baby steps..
We are going to harvest the seeds, for our favorite muffins.
Quote of the day:
"Three things in human life are important. The first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind."
